Deep color, of evolved wine, dark ruby.
Aromas of leather, molsa, black truffle, and, aftewards, of very mature grape, vanilla and coconut. On the palate it is smooth, full, unctuous, and round. Velvety tannins but closed. Black fruits, cherries in alcohol, prunes, very complex and full. Good alcohol-acidity balance. On tasting, the wine leaves the mouth fresh and clean. Long with persistent notes of cherry and freshness. This wine is at once full-bodied and elegant. Drink after airation, as with all great wines.
The dense, rich 2000 Pagos Viejos possesses a saturated ruby/purple color, a layered, expansive texture, and additional oak, extract, and glycerin characteristics in the finish. It will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring, and should age for 10-15 years. 94 Points (RMP).
The 2000 Coma d’En Pou is even richer than the 1999, with more power, volume, and a longer finish. It does a brilliant job of concealing its 14.5% alcohol. Consume it between 2006-2015. 92 Points (RMP).
Ripe and focused, with suave toast carrying the dark currant and blackberry as coffee, mineral and vanilla notes ripple underneath. Lengthy finish, too, with nice, latent concentration. 1,200 cases made. 90 Points (WS).
This exotic red shows muscular tannins, lavish oak and plenty of extract, yet distinctive cassis, pomegranate, cola, lime and ginger flavors shine through. Expressive, but won't appeal to everyone. Best after 2008. 500 cases imported. 91 Points (WS).
